Not all personal plans fall conveniently on a Friday or Saturday night, but life is worth living so you can’t pack all your fun in on two or three days a week. If you have a birthday bash, concert, bachelorette party, or a night out on the town with clients—the tips above will help you recover.
The Day Before
Do your best to get 7 to 9 hours of sleep in the days before, particularly the night before. Also, plan ahead at work. Get all caught up, and try not to schedule any super early meetings or conference calls in the morning. Better yet, check to see if you can work from home the day after, or come in a bit later than usual.
The Day Of
Stay as organized and ahead of schedule as possible. Eat at least 2 well-balanced meals, and get plenty of hydration—water, herbal tea, and electrolyte beverages. Before you leave home for the day, have your clothing for the next day ready to go. Also, leave a bottle of water on your nightstand, and maybe even an over-the-counter pain reliever.
Last but not least, have fun! One late night here or there isn’t going to throw things too off balance. In fact, the night out may be just what you need to find balance. In that case, you might wake the next day feeling energized and fulfilled, and won’t need to do much to recover from your night out on the town.
