Last week I took an extra day off to head to a local festival. The goal was to enjoy the food, check out the vendors, listen to some live music, and just spend an obligation-free day to myself. About an hour in, I realized that I was zipping rapidly from one attraction to the next and wasn’t enjoying myself. It wasn’t the festival though, it was me. I wasn’t taking the time to savor the moments.
Take A Seat
As soon as I realized I was rushing around for no reason in particular, I took a seat at the nearest park bench. I avoided the constant temptation to check my email, and just sat and enjoyed my surroundings. It was refreshing.
Savor The Moment
This festival is known for its cuisine, so when it came time to eat I took my time. I enjoyed each and every bit, and every sip of the handcrafted artisanal beverage I had ordered. It was the best meal I’d had in a long time, not just because the food was amazing—but because I was fully present.
It’s easy to get caught up in our to-do list, that we allow life to pass us by. But, if you can commit to slowing things down just a bit, you will feel happier and more fulfilled!
