The holiday season is about giving, but let’s face it—it’s embarrassing to receive a gift from someone who wasn’t on your shopping list. To avoid this awkward one-way exchange, I started buying a few last minute holiday gifts that are suitable for just about anyone. I even keep one or two in the trunk of my car, wrapped and ready to go, so I’m always prepared. If you do this too, make sure they will keep in your local weather. Here are a few generic, yet enjoyable, gifts to consider.
I love Marshalls, TJ Max, Home Goods, and Burlington Coat Factory. While I shop year-round, I keep my eye out for designer candles at rock bottom prices, which are great last-minute and planned gifts for friends and family.
Head to Target, Walgreens, or even your local grocery or department store in search of gifts sets of all kinds. My favorite are food gift sets that work perfectly for both men and women. Think luxury chocolates, high-end olive oil, bath, body, or beauty gift sets, or even wine and liquor sets—just make sure the recipient drinks.
Inspirational Books Are Perfect Last Minute Holiday Gifts
I love to read and love to give the gift of books. I keep a few copies of my favorite books on hand to give as year-round or seasonal last-minute gifts. Sign up to HayHouse.com to enjoy rock-bottom holiday prices on her author’s best sellers. Cookbooks are also an excellent last-minute gift.
Also, consider board and card games, plants, generic holiday or seasonal décor, stationary, and restaurant or spa gift certificates as last minute holiday gifts, or year-round hostess gifts. Last but not least, don’t shy away from re-gifting items that are desirable, but not quite your style—just make sure you don’t regift to the same person, or to someone they know.
