Our skin is designed to exfoliate naturally or slough away the dead skin cells that contribute to acne-causing clogged pores and premature aging. You can accelerate this process by learning how to exfoliate your skin at home.
Use A Loofa
There are a variety of natural and man-made loofas to choose from. Use them gently, each day in the shower or every other day.
An Exfoliating Scrub
You can purchase exfoliating scrubs or make your own with raw sugar or Epsom salts. Blend with hydrating honey, olive oil, coconut oil, and lavender essential oil. Use once each week. If using on your face or feet, use a formula made specifically for face or feet.
You can purchase natural fiber dry brushes in your local bath and body or health food store. Follow the directions or head to YouTube to watch an instructional video on how to dry brush and the correct frequency of dry brushing.
Whichever method of dry brushing you select, exfoliate gently. Aggressive exfoliation will irritate your skin. If your skin is sensitive, select a non-abrasive alternative, like clay or citrus based masks. Don’t forget that both men and women must exfoliate, and as you age, your body may not exfoliate on its own.
