Summer is here meaning you will likely have at least few weekend getaways. This includes road trips, train rides, and weekend flights. Here are some tips for packing when you are only staying a night or two.
Consider A Soft Bag
Suitcases and bags with wheels are convenient but soft bags fit more items and are more compact when traveling by car or train. If it’s just a night or two a soft duffle, backpack or weekender bag is also easier on the airplane. Just make sure to keep the bag light enough that it won’t be uncomfortable to carry.
To stay organized, before you start packing, lay out the outfits you want to wear for travel and each day of your trip—including undergarments and accessories. This includes your casual clothing, athletic attire, and clothing items you need for the reason you are traveling such as your business suit or the outfit you will be wearing to a wedding. This will help to ensure that you don’t forget anything. It’s only a day or two, but always try to pack items that can be mixed and matched.
Maximize Your Second Bag
If you will be flying your weekender bag will go in the overhead bin, but be sure to maximize your under the seat bag. This is where you should keep your essential electronics, chargers, prescriptions, scarf, and snacks. Although small, it is also an ideal place to carry your bulky items such as your toiletries bag, tennis shoes, high heels, or dress shoes.
While you want to make sure you have everything you need, the goal is to keep your weekender bag light and easy.
