If you love the look of mix and match patterns and prints on the runway or in magazines but aren’t sure how to recreate the look these tips will help.
Maintain A Similar Color Story
The first thing you must do is find items that have the same colors. Not all of the colors have to be the same, but at least two. For example, I have a fairly basic navy and white striped tank top that I pair with a navy, white, and green striped floral skirt. Not only does this work perfectly, but it elevates both items.
Stick To Two
Next up, keep the patterns and prints in any outfit to two. For example, a thick pinstriped button-down with a plaid skirt. A floral blouse with a solid cardigan and a patterned skirt. Floral leggings with a striped blazer.
Keep The Accessories Neutral
Last but not least, you have enough going on with your mixing and matching so opt for solid colored or neutral jewelry, shoes, and handbag. Also keep your layering items solid or neutral—coat, blazer, scarf, etc.
It can be hard to shop for a pattern and print outfit so start with what is already in your closet and go from there.
