How Rewriting Your Story Can Change Your Brain

Rewriting Your Story

There is no amount of worry that can change an unwanted circumstance and no way to change the past. However, you can rewrite your past to change your brain—and your life!

Rewrite Your Story

It’s easy to get stuck in a cycle of retelling our stories, particularly the parts that let us down, took things off course, or limited us from opportunity. Such as your parent’s never supporting your dreams. While their lack of support may be a matter of fact, and its effects may still be present in current day—you can rewrite your story. Look for the strengths it gave you as a positive, not as something that continues to hold you back. For example, since they never supported your dreams you may be a champion of your child’s dreams. Or maybe their limited mindset actually inspired you to do more, even if it took you a while to get there.

Evolve

We’ve heard it said a million times and in a million ways, but if you always apply the same thought process and take the same approach your life will never change. To evolve and move beyond your circumstances you will have to change. Change not your past but the ways in which it limits you.

It Only Takes 60 Seconds To Rewire Your Brain

Our negative thought patterns and beliefs have become pathways in our brain, but you can create new pathways—and it only takes 60 seconds! The next time you catch a positive thought or find the silver lining in a tricky situation, spend at least 60 seconds building upon and reveling in this thought. This could be anything positive, including gratitude for the smallest joys in life.

It may not always feel like it but we have the power to take our lives to the next level—but it will require us to leave the comfort and certainty of our negative narratives.
