When Is The Best Time Of Day To Work Out?

Best Time Of Day To Work Out

Have you ever wondered if there is a better time of day to work out? If you might burn more calories one time a day over another? Here’s what you need to know.

No Time Is Better

Studies show that working out at the same time of day sets your body on a schedule to perform better during your scheduled workout time, but the difference is minimal. As long as that time is at least 3 hours before bedtime, which can give you an energy boost that makes it difficult to sleep. Other than that, the time of day doesn’t matter all that much. But let’s face it, our schedules make it hard to work out at the same time each day.

When It Works For You

One of the largest challenges with working out is finding the time in your schedule. Set a goal to commit to at least 2 dedicated workout times a week, bonus points if this is personal training or a group workout. The other 3 or 4 days a week make it work as your schedule varies.

The Benefits Of A Morning Workout

While there is no time of day that you will burn more calories, there are a few benefits of a morning workout. Even if it’s hard to get up early, once your work out is done you will start your day off right with a feeling of accomplishment and an energy boost. Working out at home in the morning means less travel time and fewer showers per day. On the flip side, working out after work is an excellent way to transition from work to play, to burn off the stress of the day, and give you an energy boost after a long day.

It might not be realistic to make it to the gym every day so mix things up with home fitness apps, group classes, and active family fun.
