Can’t Concentrate When You Work At Home

Working from home full or part-time is something we all dream of which is why it is frustrating that when your dream finally comes true—you can’t concentrate when working from home. Here are a few tips.

Designate A Workspace

If you have the space a full home office is ideal. If you don’t have a spare room, you at least need a proper desk placed in the guest room, dining room or distraction-free area of your home. Even if you occasionally work outside on the patio or while lounging on the couch, having a dedicated place to get in the zone is a must.

Consider A Desktop Computer

I love my laptop but my greatest levels of productivity occur when I’m working on a large screened desktop computer with an ergonomic keyboard and mouse. If not a desktop at least a wireless keyboard and mouse. If not a desktop, place your laptop on a rise to ensure proper ergonomics.

Commit To A Daily Schedule

My schedule doesn’t look the same each day but I make sure that each day is scheduled. During my work hours I refrain from all personal emails, social media, and phone calls. This reduces the likelihood of going down the rabbit hole, which is easier when working from home.

Last but not least, consider working in a co-working space or coffee shops, libraries, or outdoors so that you don’t go stir crazy.
