It seems like every couple of years there is a new “it” superfood. Of course no superfoods are really new, they just fluctuate in and out of popularity. One of the current trends is moringa. Here’s what you need to know.
What Is Moringa?
Moringa is a tree native to tropical areas of Mexico, Asia, and Africa. Its leaves have powerful medicinal properties that locals have used for thousands of years. The leaves are crushed into a fine powder that looks a bit like matcha or it can be extracted into a tincture. With the rise in popularity, there are also supplemental options. As with any supplement, look for a pure version with no chemical additives. The label should read: moringa. Tinctures can be added to water or you can blend the powder in your smoothie or make a hot tea.
How Can It Help?
What we love most is that this super herb’s healing properties span a wide range. I started using it for overuse strain caused by my daily electronics, feeling a rapid reduction within two weeks. So much so that I no longer take ibuprofen daily. Moringa can also be used for:
- Arthritis, joint pain, and inflammation
- Allergies and asthma
- Chronic headaches
- Bacteria and parasites
- Digestive concerns
- Thyroid disorders
- High blood pressure
- And more!
