How To Add More Protein To Your Smoothies

Add More Protein To Your Smoothies

Smoothies are an excellent way to get your daily servings of fruits and veggies, but to make your smoothie a meal you will need to blend in a bit of protein. Here are easiest ways to add more protein to your smoothies.

Powdered Add-Ins

Experiment with different blends of soy and whey protein. I prefer the natural flavor, but you can also find vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry flavors. Another powdered protein option is collagen, which comes with a variety of health and beauty benefits.

Nuts And Seeds

Depending on your blender you can add in your favorite protein and health-boosting nuts and seeds. This includes pumpkin seeds, flax, chia, cashews, almonds, and more. If you don’t like the texture of blended nuts or seeds add a tablespoon or two of nut butter or eat your nuts and seeds on the side.

Other Protein Options

Using soymilk as your liquid base will give you a few grams more of protein. Avocados are packed full or protein and healthy amino acids, making them perfect for your smoothie. A tablespoon of coconut oil contains 13 grams of protein. While I don’t blend it in, sometimes I have a couple of slices of turkey bacon or a chunk of cheese to increase my protein.

Happy blending!
