With every season you need to tweak your skincare and beauty routine. Here are a few summer skin care tips.
Carry Your SPF With
You need broad-spectrum SPF protection all year round but with the bright summer sun, you will need to kick things up a notch and reapply throughout the day. This includes lip protection SPF body lotion, and face cream or makeup—with a minimum of SPF 50. But don’t forget sunglasses and haircare products with SPF built-in.
Lighter Skincare Formulas
Everything from your foundation to your daily moisturizer should be lighter. If you live in a hot or humid climate you want a formula that won’t irritate your skin when you sweat, and that won’t cake when it gets hot. It helps to carry blotting cloths with you and wear a bit less makeup when it’s warm out. If your skin is sensitive switch to a gentle toner and facial cleanser, and soothe your skin as needed with a pure rosewater spray—which you can keep in the fridge if you need to cool down.
Exfoliation is required from head to toe during all seasons of the year. It will smooth your skin before you shave your legs and keep your skin healthy during a time when you may be more prone to clogged pores. Always select a gentle exfoliator and scrub lightly, even a loofa will do—and a mild granular facial exfoliator.
Pay closer attention to your skin and how it responds in the heat and if you have a boost in skin issues during the summer months head to your dermatologist for a few skin tips.
