Positive affirmations are an excellent way to help shift your mindset and achieve your goals. You can find many affirmations online but here are a few tips for writing your own.
Use What You Don’t Want As Contrast
The goal is to focus on the positive but you can use what you don’t want to help identify what you do want. For example, if you don’t want to feel so much stress ask your self what you do want to feel instead? Balanced, calm, joyful, etc.
Keep It Positive
Make sure there is nothing negative in your signature affirmation. For example, you might be tempted to use something like “I will not let the small things stress me out.” You are on the right track, but your words contain what you don’t want. Instead it would sound something like this “I will experience joy in each and every day.”
If you have more than one area you want to improve feel free to categorize your affirmations. For example, write one for work, another for finances, and another for overall mindset shifts. If you have a difficult time writing your affirmations draw inspiration from Louise Hay’s affirmation work.
Cycle through your signature affirmations daily to replace negative thought patterns or as a stressor in each category arises.
