Holiday Party Food Planning Tips

The holiday season is here meaning its time to start party planning. As the host or hostess, you want to impress but you don’t want to spend the whole time running around. These holiday party food planning tips will help.

  1. Make appetizers, dips and spread ahead of time.
  2. Prep or purchase quick-bake appetizers that take 10 minutes or less to bake.
  3. Buy pre-sliced deli trays of meats and veggies and other pre-made deli items.
  4. Browse deli options and ask what other fully prepared or take and bake items you can pre-order.
  5. Cook soups and side dishes in a rice cooker or crockpot.
  6. Consider a self-serve drink station or at least create a bulk-sized main beverage option—and have alcohol as a BYOB option.
  7. Cook singles serving desserts in advance like cookies, sliced breads, muffins, cake pops, or mini cupcakes.
  8. Have a sperate table for those with food allergies or dietary restrictions—such as vegan, gluten-free, sugar-free, etc.
  9. Purchase plastic containers or extra aluminum foil to give leftovers to guests when they leave.
  10. Ask one or two friends or family members to help you serve, tidy, pack leftovers, and clean up afterward.
