Your first hour or so of the day sets the tone. It impacts your level of stress, how you interact with others, and how productive you are. Here’s how to start your day off right.
Get To Bed Ontime
Head to bed on time. Your goal should be to go to bed within the same hour each evening and wake at the same time each day. This will help to get your sleep hormones on a set cycle that makes it easier to rest and wake. To help yourself wind down do some gentle stretching, pm yoga, or listen to a sleep story.
Wake Up Earlier
Wake up 30 minutes earlier than you need to, allowing you to ease into your day. This time is just for you. Spend it doing a morning meditation, having a solo cup of coffee or tea, journaling, or reading a daily devotional. You could even use part of this time to take a longer shower than usual.
Even if your phone is your alarm clock, don’t check texts, calls, emails, or social media for 30 to 60 minutes after you wake. Unfortunately, many of us are in the habit of checking these the second we wake which is a jarring way to start the day.
Here’s to a restful sleep cycle!
