Leave-On Chemical Exfoliators

Leave-On Chemical Exfoliators

The latest generation of products designed to slough off dead skin is leave-on chemical exfoliators. Whether speaking of at-home or spa products, chemical peel products have been a no-go for many, but the newest generation of products is gentle and impressive.

Gentle Exfoliation

Everyone’s skin reacts differently to skincare products so we can’t say 100% that a leave-on product won’t irritate your skin—but the risk is far lower than with wash-off chemical exfoliators. Made with either alpha hydroxy acid, beta hydroxy acid, or retinol, these products are serums, moisturizers, or overnight masks that gently slough dead skin away.

No Scrubbing

The debate surrounding whether physical/granular exfoliators damage your skin remains. You can choose from softer synthetic granulars, DIY Epsom salt products that are less abrasive, or walnut-shell based products. Whatever scrub you choose, you must use it as directed and scrub gently for no more than 30 seconds. But, with leave-on products, there is no scrubbing!

Use As Directed

Although designed to leave on and mixed into a hydrating serum or moisturizer, you must not forget that your leave-on is an exfoliator. Use only as directed, typically 1 to 3 days a week, or you can damage your skin just like with any other exfoliating product.

No matter what kind of product you use, regular exfoliation will leave your skin softer, smoother, brighter, and more youthful!
